Frome Independent Market

The attractions available to visitors in this part of the world are many and varied – Longleat, Cheddar Gorge, Wookey Hole, Stonehenge and Bath among many others – but we are always keen to spread the word about other, perhaps smaller, but equally enriching events. Today, we are showcasing the exciting Frome Independent Market, https://thefromeindependent.org.uk/about/  a fabulous award-winning event that takes place on the first Sunday of the month between March and December.

A non-profit organization, The Frome Independent Market reclaims the high Street in Frome which is closed to traffic for the duration of the market and showcases the very best local traders in a wide range of crafts, food production, vintage, collectibles and design. There is a stage for live music together with street performers, DJ’s, and various activities/workshops for children and adults.

It really is a fabulous day out, and it’s worth considering timing your stay at Riverside Cottage Holidays/Oldford Farm to coincide with this event that has grown rapidly to become a significant date in the town’s calendar, now attracting more than 80,000 visitors a year.

The dates of the Frome Independent Market for the remainder of 2023 are:

  • 1st October 2023
  • 5th November 2023
  • 3rd December 2023

The Market resumes in March 2024:

  • 3rd March 2024
  • 7th April 2024
  • 5th May 2024

The market takes place between 10am and 3pm. Admission is free. Full details of how to get there, including park & ride arrangements, can be found on the Frome Independent website. Briefly though the Park & Ride car parks can be found at:

  • Frome Medical Practice, Enos Way, Frome BA11 2FH
  • Frome College, Bath Road, Frome BA11 2HQ

Donations of £2 per car are gratefully received at the car parks. Also, please consider making the 10-15-minute walk from the Park & Ride locations into Town to help reduce congestion on the buses. The first bus leaves the car parks at 10am and the last bus leaves the market at 3.45 pm.

Remember too that Frome Town centre is little more than a mile from your cottage at Oldford Farm so weather permitting, it’s a very nice walk to the market.

We hope you’ll be able to join us there during your next stay at Riverside Cottage Holidays, Oldford Farm.
